what happens to me at a reiki session

This article explains what generally happens to you when you experience a Reiki session. Reiki is for you if you would like healing, consciousness, peace, or enlightenment. When you arrive at my Reiki Room, I ask you to complete a short form asking for your name and contact information. The form also asks if you are currently under a doctor’s care and what health issues you have. The reason I do this is so I can concentrate channeling Reiki to those areas of your body that you believe need the most healing.
I request that you remove your shoes, glasses, and tight belts, then lay on my Reiki table fully clothed, usually on your back. But if you prefer, you can lay in whatever position you are most comfortable. I offer you pillows for your head and knees and a blanket. Then I ask you to close your eyes and relax. Your session lasts for 60 minutes. Some sessions can be longer or shorter if requested.
The first thing I do as your practitioner is cleanse your aura of any stuck or stagnant energy that may be trapped there. This only takes a minute or so. After your aura cleansing, I begin channeling Reiki into you starting at your head. I lightly rest my hands on different locations on your body. If you prefer not to be touched, please let me know. I can give you Reiki by letting my hands hover above your body. Most people like the gentle warm “hands-on” method, but either way is just as effective. Please tell me at any time if you would like to change your position, or you need a tissue, or want me to change or turn off the music. This is your time to relax and reduce stress, so let’s make sure you are very comfortable.
If you feel heat coming from my hands, this is normal. If you fall asleep or drift off into a dreamlike state, that’s fine. You are here to relax, try not to rationalize yourself or your thoughts, just rest and let everything flow. Deep relaxation sometimes causes these sensations: tingling, energy waves passing through you, shivers, laughing, crying, seeing images or colors, and heightened intuition. Anything you feel is okay. After I cleanse your aura again, I tap you on the shoulder when your session if over. You sit up and rest for a few moments to get grounded again.
